Tributes to crash victim
A YOUNG man who has died a week after a car crash has been praised as a good friend.
Cammy Donaldson was the passenger in a vehicle that crashed in Glasgow’s East End, hours after being involved in a pursuit with a police car.
The driver is said to be in a serious condition while the female who was hurt remains in hospital.
TRIBUTES have been paid to a young man who died more than a week after he was involved in a car crash in Glasgow’s East End.
The 20-year-old, named locally as Cammy Donaldson, was a passenger in the rear of a Vauxhall Meriva that crashed on Edinburgh Road, near Swinton Road, on October 1.
Police officers had been involved a pursuit with the car earlier in the day but had stood down before the collision occurred.
The driver, also 20 years old, made off following the incident but was later traced.
He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital along with the other passenger, a 27-year-old woman.
The driver is said to be in a serious condition while the female is stable in hospital.
We previously told how the 20-year-old passenger was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary following the crash.
He was described as being in a ‘critical’ condition before passing away yesterday
Friends and family expressed their shock following the news of the Celtic fan’s death.
Jamie Ingram wrote: “Rest easy Cammy bro couldn’t have met anyone sounder.”
Jay Kenna added: “Brutal to hear. Rest easy Cammy boy.”
Chloe Natalie Gallagher said: “Life is so cruel,thoughts are with his family. RIP.”
A relative of the youngster had previously posted: “Cammy Bhoy your gonna pull through this n laugh at the end up.
“Just know we love you n we’re here every step of the way.”
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences in relation to the incident.
Any witnesses to this incident are asked to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Motherwell through 101.
Police Scotland said it has referred the matter to the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner, which is standard practice
A spokeswoman for the force said: “A 20-year-old man has died following a crash on Edinburgh Road.
“A 20-year-old man has been arrested but not charged in connection with alleged road traffic offences.”
