Man ‘critical’ after East End gun attack

-

MASKED gunmen forced their way into a Shettleston flat before shooting a man in a murder bid.

The two men barged into the flat on Wellshot Road at around 8.10pm on Saturday evening.

They then shot a 42-yearold man who was inside before running out of the flat and into a small dark car that was parked outside.

The injured man was taken by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Hospital staff have described his condition as critical.

Police were at the scene on yesterday looking for clues as to who was responsible.

Detective Inspector Alasdair Barlow, who is in charge of this inquiry, said: “We believe that this was not a random attack and that the victim was the intended target.

“Nevertheless, a team of detectives and specialist officers are currently in the area carrying out enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this incident.

“It is vital that we catch those responsible for this despicable act of violence and I appeal to members of the public to come forward with any information, however slight it might appear, in order that we can identify the men involved and hold them accountable for their actions.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact CID officers at Helen Street Police Office via telephone number 101, quoting incident number 3725 of 13 October 2018. Alternatively calls can be made via Crimestoppers. on 0800 555 111 where anonymity can be maintained.”
