Couples devastated as wedding venues go into administration
DOZENS of brides-to-be have been left in limbo after their wedding venues went into administration.
Burnhouse Manor in Ayrshire and Crowwood House Hotel in Muirhead, run by Halo Hotels Ltd, officially went under on December 4.
Couples from across Glasgow have been forced to cancel their big day, some with only months to go.
Katie Quinn, 45, from Auchinairn, has lost close to £10,000 after the plug was pulled on her summer 2019 wedding at the Crowwood House Hotel on Cumbernauld Road.
The cleaner, who is currently undergoing treatment for bone cancer, said she has received no correspondence from either the company or her wedding planner since the action was taken.
She explained: “We booked the venue over a year ago and my partner has been going up to pay £600 every month since.
“If it wasn’t for another couple getting in touch to tell us it had went into administration, we would never have known.
“Our wedding planner, who we’ve also been paying, is refusing to speak to us and the administrator basically said there’s nothing they can do.
“He said that even if a buyer for the hotel is found, we probably won’t get our money back because of all the other debt they have to pay off. So we’ve had to cancel everything – the LED dancefloor, the piper, the decorations. We’ve lost everything we worked our backsides off to pay for.
“I’m just a cleaner and my partner is a bus inspector – this isn’t spare change to us. We can’t afford to book anything else.”
While Crowwood House Hotel is still operating, a statement placed on its and Burnhouse Manor’s website confirms that both are under administration. Staff at the venues were unable to comment when approached by the Evening Times.
