Miller a tough opponent, says McKenna

-

SCOTT McKenna expects problems from an old stager when Aberdeen try to record a third successive Premiership win when they face Dundee at Pittodrie tonight.

Former Rangers front man Kenny Miller has hit seven goals in his past five games and will be seeking to add to this form.

And McKenna, whose career is still in its infancy, recognises the professionalism of the Dens Park striker, the man he will try to subdue.

McKenna is expected to be the subject of keen interest from bigger clubs south of the border in the January transfer window, although the Dons turned down a summer bid from Aston Villa of £6.5m.

The towering defender acknowledges the former Rangers front man is still a force to be reckoned with, even though his 39th birthday is just five days away.

“We know we will have our hands full,” he said. “He is one of my toughest opponents.”

The 21-year-old admitted he was given a masterclass when faced Miller in the 3-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox in November last year.

“He dragged me all over the place that night,” he said “That was a big learning curve.”

Dundee have won just two of 17 Premiership fixtures this season and haven’t recorded a win against the Dons in 19 league games, dating back to 2014.

The Pittodrie outfit are still without McKenna’s regular central defensive partner, Mikey Devlin, who injured his foot while training with the Scotland squad last months.

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes will instead call on the services of Andy Considine, hitherto the regular left-back.
