Gunners were well fired up after Liverpool defeat says Iwobi

-

MIDFIELDER Alex Iwobi felt the Gunners had produced the necessary “response” from their defeat at Liverpool after the saw off Fulham 4-1 at the Emirates.

Goals from Granit Xhaka and Alexandre Lacazette appeared to have put Arsenal out of sight before Fulham’s lone strike from Aboubakar Kamara caused some tension in the home dugout.

Emery replaced Lacazette with Ramsey, who has reportedly opened talks with a string of top European clubs about a summer move when his contract at Arsenal expires, and the Wales internationalist scored a crucial third to give the hosts breathing space.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang added gloss to the scoreline,

“We picked ourselves up in training and today you saw we played with confidence,” Iwobi said.

“We like to make sure our opponents are scared to come to the Emirates.

“It was a good performance from the team and response.”

Defender Denis Odoi said the defeat was a “reality check” for Fulham.

“I think we showed we can play football but it’s a reality check also,” he said on Sky Sports. “At 2-1 we were still pushing. We thought 2-2 might be possible.

“After 3-1 it was disappointment.”

The Cottagers remain 19th but are just a point behind the two sides above them, although having now played a match more.

Odoi added: “The league is still on and we have every chance to stay in it.” just
