GLASGOW WARRIORS

- BY KEVIN FERRIE

THE most glaring errors contributing to Glasgow Warriors’ recent slump have been made by their backs, with play-maker Adam Hastings shouldering much of the responsibility.

But midfield colleague Pete Horne admits the attempt to force things at the wrong time was a collective failure.

“It’s something we’ve been guilty of recently,” he said. “Maybe not so much against Treviso, but against Edinburgh they certainly dominated possession in the first half of both games.

“That meant that, when we did get the ball, we were a little bit loose and were trying to score a miracle try and score out of nothing when these things normally come easily.”

“It’s not like alarm bells ringing or anything. We need a good week’s training and we’ll be all right,” said the 29-year-old.

How the coaches view Hastings’ state of mind will almost certainly decree how Horne is utilised this weekend.

The calmness Horne exuded in contemplating the options, which is very much what is required right now and his head coach knows he can rely on him.

Dave Rennie’s faith in the midfielder was clear from soon after he arrived and became all the more evident when it emerged Finn Russell would be departing.

The New Zealander indicated Horne was a strong contender to take the No.10 jersey.
