Berra believes Hearts can still lift silverware

-

HEARTS captain Christophe Berra insists the Tynecastle side are ready to relaunch their assault on the Premiership summit.

Craig Leven’s side led the top flight until November before injuries to the likes of Berra, Steven Naismith, John Souttar and Uche Ikpeazu contributed to a barren run of just one victory in 10 matches.

Hearts ended the year with wins over Hamilton and Hibs to close the gap on leaders Celtic to six points.

And players returning to fitness, allied to the January arrival of striker David Vanecek and defender Conor Shaughnessy, has given Berra the belief they can end the campaign on a high.

“We want to start the second half of the season as we did the first,” he said. “Football is funny and there are a highs and lows. We had a really good high, and a bit of a dip but we’ve picked up again.

“Hopefully we can start the second half of the season strongly and put ourselves in a good position to finish up as high as possible, and hopefully maybe get some silverware or get to a final and definitely get into Europe.

“We’ve come back in the last two games, the last game beating Hibs was a massive result, especially at Easter Road, and we sent the fans away happy.”

Meanwhile, Hearts have offloaded winger Danny Amankwaa to Danish club Sonderjysk.
