Livi move is a no-brainer, says Wylde

-

NEW Livingston midfielder Gregg Wylde admits he had no hesitation in joining the Lions after being blown away by their 5-0 demolition of Hearts.

The former Rangers player became manager Gary Holt’s first January signing on Wednesday after putting pen to paper on an 18-month contract from Plymouth.

Wylde insists the time was right to return home after a three-and-a-half year spell in England

– his second stint south of the border.

And, even before the 27-year-old was made aware of Livingston’s interest, the club had made an impression on him after he watched the December 14 thrashing of Hearts on television.

Wylde, who could make his debut in next Sunday’s Scottish Cup clash at Hearts, said: “It was a no-brainer. I’ve seen them play and they’re not afraid to beat the big teams and are on the up.

“I’ve seen them a few times and the last time was in the Friday night game against Hearts when they won 5-0.

“I was blown away by how good they are.”

Either side of two years at Aberdeen and St Mirren, Wylde spent five years in England with two spells at Plymouth and at the likes of Bolton, Bury, Millwall, Northampton and Morecambe.

The former Scotland Under-21 internationalist struggled for game time under Derek Adams this term, making six League One appearances, but insists he is returning to Scotland a more complete player.

Wylde added: “I’m more of a mature player compared to when I was last in Scotland. People see me playing wide on the left but I can play in the middle, as a number 10, on the right or wide as a five now.”
