Mum and son ran cannabis farm from spare room
A MOTHER and son have been convicted of running a cannabis farm in their spare bedroom.
Carole Gordon, 56, and Ryan Gordon, 28, produced and supplied cannabis in February last year from their Shettleston flat.
The pair were found guilty of the charge after a three-day trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Jurors witnessed footage of the police raid on the three-bedroom flat.
Cannabis plants were seen surrounded by equipment including five lights and seven fans used for “ventilation” purposes.
PC Rachel Logue, 28, told jurors that 20 cannabis plants were in the spare bedroom when they entered.
The officer described the smell inside the flat as “so bad you could smell it as we were entering the property.”
DC Greg Baxter, 42, formerly of the police’s drugs investigation team, said the set-up of the spare bedroom was perfect for growing the drug.
He said: “What you have here is the perfect environment to grow cannabis.
“This is someone that knows how to grow cannabis.”
‘‘ The smell inside the flat was so bad you could smell it as we were entering
He added that creating the drug is “easy in theory but it is difficult”.
DC Baxter confirmed that the 20 plants could reach a potential street value of £12,000.
Eight small bags were among other larger cannabisfilled bags also seized from the property following the raid.
DC Baxter told jurors that this was “evidence of drug-dealing activity”.
The Gordons were also snared on a possession of cannabis charge.
The mother has no previous convictions while her son has 25.
His most recent was for the possession of and intent to supply cannabis.
Both denied the charges against them.
Sentencing on the pair was deferred until next month by Sheriff Paul Crozier and they were bailed.
