Roads can berepaired using bus gate cash
AFTER coming back from holiday I was catching up reading some of the previous articles that had been printed in the Evening Times.
I could not believe when I read Elle Duffy’s detailed article from November 11 concerning new bus gates installed in Glasgow, where more than 6600 drivers were hit with bus lane fines totalling £400,000 in the first three weeks of operation.
Well, there must be many people in Glasgow City Council congratulating themselves and rubbing their hands together at this little ‘gold mine’ they have created and wondering where else can more bus gates be installed for more drivers to be caught and more money rolling in.
I would like to ask Glasgow City Council where do they intend spending this bonanza windfall?
As the drivers have funded this, can I make a suggestion that this money is used to fix all the potholes in roads all over Glasgow that are in a diabolical unsafe condition where again drivers are being hit in their pockets due to the damage being caused to their vehicles.
Glasgow’s roads are looking like we are living in a third world country. It’s absolutely disgraceful that Glasgow City Council has not addressed this situation, which has been going on for some considerable amount of time.
I would like to thank Elle Duffy for her article and bringing this to the public’s attention as I would think that many drivers like myself were not aware these cameras were now operational. Drivers, please beware.

ACCORDING to reports, Dr Gail Bradbrook, a co-founder of Extinction Rebellion (XR), caused £27,500 of damage when she deliberately smashed a bulletproof window with a chisel and hammer during XR demonstrations in London.
Charged with criminal damage she chose to have a trial by jury in the Crown court no doubt hoping to fill the jury with people sympathetic to her cause.
Regardless of the outcome a civil action should be raised against her for £25,500 plus legal costs. Only then will demonstrators realise there is a cost to them for their beliefs and disruptive tactics.

WELL done to Glasgow City Council for the Christmas lights switch-on. My family really enjoyed the event and it was great to see the pictures in the Evening Times.

CAN the First Minister explain how she can have two referendums in one year?
If Scotland votes to leave the UK, how could Scots take part in a second EU referendum? Without Scotland’s votes, how could the remain side win an EU referendum?
More importantly, will she accept we would have to have four referendums as the deal the SNP negotiate with the UK on us voting for Scexit would have to be put back to the people to follow her logic – and we would need a referendum on whether we subsequently wanted to join the EU. Utter chaos and fear being spread by Ms Sturgeon.
In 2014, Salmond and Sturgeon said they would walk away with no deal if the UK didn’t agree to a currency union – is this still the position of the SNP?

I WAS pleased to read that films could be shown again at the Lyceum in Govan (Evening Times, Monday.
I remember going to the cinema and the bingo in the 1970s at the Lyceum.
I enjoyed many a fun weekend there. It would be great to return there to watch a film
