Barisic looking forward to ‘special night’ at Ibrox

-

BORNA Barisic insisted last night that Rangers will take care of Europa League business on what promises to be a “special night” against Young Boys in a fortnight’s time.

Twelve months after they were undone by a late Rapid Vienna goal as they chased the win they needed to qualify, Steven Gerrard’s side just need a point going into the final match day to secure a spot in the last 32 of the Europa League this time around.

The club’s Croatian left-back, who got another assist for the second of Alfredo Morelos’ two goals on the night, insisted they are made of sterner stuff now.

“With 50,000 fans behind us at

Ibrox against Young Boys, I’m confident we can win and top the group but we need to produce a good performance and show our aggressive style,” said Barisic (inset).

“One point would be enough for us to qualify but we want three and I hope we do that. It’s going to be a very special night for the players and fans.

“Ibrox on a Europa League night is so exciting and it will be a big evening for us. But this was a dramatic night too. We didn’t play our usual style in the first half or as we have in other European games and they had a couple of more chances to score. The manager wasn’t angry at halftime but he said we weren’t playing our style and we had to change it and we reacted very well to get the draw. “What more can I say about Alfredo? He’s a top player. He scores with his left foot, right foot and with his head. It was a top performance from him. Alfredo can only get better in the future but right now he’s a top player who not only scores in almost every game but important goals in important games and I’m very happy for him.”
