Scoring hero pays tribute to his team-mates
RYAN CHRISTIE has attributed his remarkable scoring form this season to the number of chances his Celtic team-mates have created for him.
Christie netted twice in the 4-1 win over Ross County in Dingwall yesterday to take his tally for the Parkhead club in the 2019/20 campaign to 15.
He is now one ahead of Odsonne Edouard, who missed the Ladbrokes Premiership match at the Global Energy Stadium, in the Celtic goal charts this season.
However, the Scotland internationalist feels he owes his fellow Celtic players a lot of thanks for his success up front.
“My goals are probably down to a few things, but I have been working hard to add that to my game,” he said.
“The manager made it clear when he pushed me to a more attacking position, off the striker or on the right, I need to chip in.
“I like having that pressure and responsibility to score and create goals. I have my own targets and I want a few more before Christmas, but it’s going well.
“We play a lot of games and the boys around really help when it comes to getting chances. Look at the brilliant pass Kristoffer Ajer played for my second goal against County.
“When you are playing in a team where boys create three or four of them for you every game, I will get more chances than most midfielders in Scotland.”
Meanwhile, Christie has stressed that Celtic are focusing purely on their Premiership match with Hamilton at Parkhead on Wednesday night – not the Betfred Cup final at Hampden on Sunday.
“All eyes will be on Sunday, but the league is the priority for us at the moment,” he said.
