‘Disgusting disrespect of the dead’: Fly-tipping blights Glasgow graveyard
When the Pie Man was in charge he made a big thing of cleaning up Glasgow. It claimed a 5 day response, well that never worked out as it was no more than a publicity stunt. The people running that department have not moved on and it’s still a mess. The contact number is constantly engaged and when you do get through they don’t give a name and getting a job reference number you are put on hold while they ask a supervisor. Walking along Great Western Road at Anniesland it’s like an ice rink with rotten lmulshy leafs that have been ignored. GCC staff need to do better. John Davidson
Remember when you wanted your old mattresses, wardrobes and other large items collected by the binman all you had to do was phone up for a collection date and it was uplifted? This all changed when Labour ran the council into the ground, no pun intended. Both Labour and Conservative governments acted on the EU directive on landfill sites and started charging a fortune to dump household items. Why do people flytip? Because of the cost to have it uplifted. Surely it would be cost effective to collect items free when you consider the cost of cleaning up. Maybe a feasibility study could show if this is possible. Bus company McGill’s fined £75,000 and rapped over poor punctuality
I was near Linwood toll last week. Waited 45 mins for a number 38 back to Glasgow. Supposed to be every 10 mins. Seems to be pretty much the same deal every time. Feel sorry for anybody in Paisley who has to rely on the same bus service. Hopefully McGills service will change their ways, but I do doubt it.
