With Rangers playing Stranraer at home in the cup this weekend, what is the overall record like between the two teams? (Rab, Mosspark) A: The two sides meet each other tomorrow night under the floodlights at Ibrox with the Light Blues looking to avoid a big cup upset after their recent Old Firm triumph. Rangers and Stranraer have only ever met on five occasions with Rangers winning four times – the best result Stranraer managed was a 1-1 draw at Ibrox in League One in 2013-14 when a Lee McCulloch penalty was cancelled out by a last-minute Jamie Longworth strike. The first meeting between the pair was in the 1988/89 Scottish Cup when the Gers trounced the Blues 8-0 at Ibrox. They then met in the League Cup in 199293 with Rangers winning 5-0 at Stair Park. More recently you may remember Rangers playing Stranraer in their League Cup group in 2016-17 when Rangers won 3-0 in Glasgow through Martyn Waghorn (2) and Niko Kranjcar.

When was the first time Partick Thistle played Celtic in the Scottish Cup, and how many times have they been drawn together? (Sam Baird, Clydebank)

A: As far as we are aware the first time the two clubs met in the Scottish Cup was in March 1988 for a quarter-final tie. Celtic won 3-0 at a sold-out Firhill thanks to goals from

Andy Walker, Tommy Burns and Billy Stark. Late on in the match Thistle’s Eddie Gallagher was sent off for lashing out at Anton Rogan. More recently the two clubs met in the fifth round of the cup at Celtic Park where the home side triumphed 3-2 thanks to a James Forrest hattrick. Kris Doolan and Conor Sammon scored for Thistle.
