Scot accuses Subway of racism after his £20 Scottish banknote is refused

Go back in, order 25 sandwiches, 30 soft drinks and 40 coffees, and then try to pay with Scottish notes. Hell mend them if they refuse!

On the other hand, if they decide on a sudden change of policy...

A shop refused to take your note. Oh my lordy loo! Phone the polis!

Reaction 1: Blow the issue out of all logical proportion and accuse them of “racism” while being oblivious that scots and English are the SAME RACE!

Reaction 2 : Don’t be a **** , and realise that in England they won’t be used to seeing scots notes and probably don’t want to have to deal with the potential hassle of screening them, and pay with a card, and go about your life like a normal human being without a huge chip on yer shoulder 24/7. I’ve used Scottish notes in the south of England hundreds of times and only once did someone question it, but he was a foreign worker who didn’t recognise it and asked his supervisor who immediately said it was okay. Even a ticket tout outside Earl’s Court just joked and said “I hope this isn’t Scottish drug money”.

Catriona Stewart: Lessons of the Holocaust bear repeating as we fail to learn

I visited Auschwitz just before Christmas and I have to agree, social media has changed how people see and record memories of this sort of thing. It’s the same as the 9/11 memorial. The custodians of sites have to adapt as without the visitors they will struggle to keep themselves in the public eye which in turn means people will not be reminded of the past.
