Fury over selfish parking by motorists
WITH regards to your letters correspondent Siobhan McNeill and people ignoring residents-only parking signs, I live in Renfrewshire and there are resident-only parking signs where I live, but like Mrs/Miss McNeill nobody takes any notice of them.
So when I had visitors and they could not park in the resident-only and visitors area because of these people ignoring the resident-only signs, I contacted my Renfrewshire councillor (SNP) and was told that these signs are courtesy-only.
But here is a thought – this Renfrewshire Council has went to the expense of having these signs made, paid for workers to put them up and they are useless, what a waste of money.
So maybe Mrs/Miss McNeill could ask her councillor the same question and see what answer she gets, and maybe you the Glasgow Times could run a poll and see how many other areas have the same problem.

I WAS interested to read that Platform at the Arches is going cashless this weekend (Glasgow Times, Saturday).
I think this will be the start of more retailers and restaurants opting to take up this option.
It makes sense and hopefully can help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

THE Convener of Neighbourhoods and Sustainability is suggesting Glasgow is making big advances in de-carbonisation.
As I live in Glasgow, I still see bins being missed, fly-tipped couches and mattresses littering the street, pot holes getting bigger and street lights not fixed.
What hope we got reducing carbon, when the most simple things can’t be fixed? Name and address supplied
I’VE just visited Sir
Billy Connolly’s art display in Glasgow .... though childlike – sketches and use of colour in their appearance – the colourful work reflects the character of the Big Yin’ whose contribution as a Glaswegian worldwide is more than worthy. Hopefully all sales go to a good cause! Thanks Big Yin! A fan for years.

I CAN’T believe how selfish some people are in the supermarkets. On Friday, there was a couple who were buying nine bags of pasta in my local Aldi store. When they were told they could only buy two, they paid separately, so they could still buy four packets. Disgraceful.
