Judge pays tribute after QC’s death
A JUDGE at the High Court in Glasgow paid tribute to top QC Derek Ogg who died at home earlier this month.

“He was an adornment to the Bar and I’m very sorry we won’t be seeing him here again.”
COMMUNITY will remember two young people who tragically died in a car crash four years ago in Lambhill.
The Immaculate Conception Church in Maryhill is planning to pay tribute to Gemma McMonagle and Kieran Lundie who were both just 24 and 21 respectively when they were tragically killed in the accident on May 15, 2016.
The much-loved pair died after Kieran’s car skidded off Balmore Road, near to Skirsa Street into shallow water.
Three other young people including Gemma’s boyfriend Jason Taylor, then 24, Stephanie Adens, and Stephen Carroll, then 25 were seriously injured in the crash.

It is understood that Mr Ogg’s funeral is being held on Friday.

LOCALS in Maryhill were asked to vote on a name for a new non-denominational primary school for the community.
The state-of-the-art new school will be named North Kelvinside Primary.

During his time with Crown Office Derek became the first head of the National Sexual Crimes Unit. popular with more than 2500 votes cast by members of the local community and those with links to the area.
The new school is being built on the site of the former North Kelvinside Secondary School.

received 44.4 per cent, Queen Margaret Primary 31.2 per cent and Belhaven Primary 24.4 per cent.
The new school was due for completion by August 2021 but this will now be delayed as construction sites are shut during the current pandemic.
Councillor Chris Cunningham, City Convener for Education, Skills and Early Years, said: “The name is clearly held in high esteem in the local area and in the north of Glasgow and I love the fact that a little bit of the old school is being embraced.”
