Man to appear in court after ‘much-loved’ 23-year-old’s death
TRIBUTES have flooded in for a 23-year-old man who tragically died in the early hours of Friday morning. William Wardrop, from Larkhall, was rushed to Wishaw General Hospital after he was found injured in a friend’s home after reports of an alleged disturbance at a house in Riverside Road.
Hours later, William sadly died at the hospital due to his injuries.
Following his death, a schoolfriend of William set up an online fundraiser in the hope it could cover the costs for his funeral.
In just 19 hours, the GoFundMe had surpassed its goal of £1000, reaching £1564.
School friend Cicely Grey told the Glasgow Times: “It was completely and utterly unexpected. Everyone is absolutely devastated.
“He was honestly one of the nicest guys you could ever meet in your life. He would do anything and everything for anybody.”
The dad-of-two has tragically left behind a “beautiful” fiancee and two boys, aged two and nine-months.
Cicely said: “The fundraiser is in place to help towards his funeral costs and to help his fiancee and his two wee boys.
“Caitlin will have her family and his family around about her but she is beyond devastated.
“He had a heart of gold beyond anybody I’ve ever met in my life.
“The best way I can describe him is that he was genuinely the life and soul of every party.
“It’s heart-breaking that such an amazing guy’s life has been cut so short when he had everything to live for.”
Those donating to the fundraiser have described him as “a loving and caring boy”.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection to the death of the “much-loved” dad.
He is due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court today.
