Certainly rename any street that has some privileged irrelevance like the Queen (below), George or whatever.

Doesn’t matter if they change the names or demolish all the buildings, the history remains.

This is just the latest trend. Be kind, stay safe etc. Next month will be something else.

What about the ongoing slavery? The clothes you wear are made by kids in foreign countries for pennies. As are other items decorating your homes, the technology you use.

Slavery still exists. I’d rather society prioritised this exploitation for corporate profit happening now than make symbolic gestures of “solidarity” that can neither affect what happened back then or influence a change in conditions for those who continue to be used in such a way.

If we are being asked to “remember” a wrong of history whilst conveniently ignoring one perpetrated right now then... where’s the justice in this?
