Where is the cash coming from to dish out pay rise?

-

WHERE is the money to come from to give frontline workers a pay rise (GMB cleansing and refuse frontline staff urge Scottish Government and council to pay Covid-19 bonus payment, Glasgow Times online)?

Trying to cash in off the back of a pandemic!

Thousands of people have lost their lives, thousands will lose their jobs and businesses.

Frontline workers were paid. Crash the economy and there will be no jobs.

Think yourself lucky – worse has to come financially.

Major companies are having to make thousands redundant. Margaret Blair

COVID bonus payment? Give us a break. The purple glass bins haven’t been picked up in months and they want a bonus? Give us a break.

A SMALL bonus of £85 a week. That’s more than the medical staff who were working with Covid patients.

LET’S be honest, our government doesn’t care.

It’s happy to praise the workers for keeping the UK moving but when it comes to actually rewarding these same people, it turns a blind eye!

ALL those who worked through it should get a pay rise or hazard payment.

THE carers don’t even get a pay rise! And we are out through the whole of Covid – never mind cleansing!

EVERYONE who worked through the pandemic deserves some sort of bonus.

SUPERMARKET workers should be included as well. Working extra hours to make sure the shelves were getting stocked. Jock Mackie

WHAT about janitors opening schools and nurseries through the pandemic?

CARERS should get something.

THE domestic service staff in NHS don’t even get anything the same as everyone else that has worked all the way through.

We are trying to clean this virus up and all we get is a clap – not fair.

NHS staff should get a decent pay rise for working through the pandemic. Doctors/nurses – all the way down to support service staff/security/portering/ domestics and call centre staff who could not work from home. How about the politicians taking

a 25% pay cut – never-mind the “lords” demanding extra money for working at home and distancing!

THAT’S good (Police reveal they have fined one man for refusing to wear a mask in shop, Glasgow Times online).

I hope this continues with people who refuse to wear a mask. Anne Dickson
