Number of used masks lying around isdisgusting

-

I’VE been disgusted by the number of discarded masks and latex gloves on our streets and pavements across the city. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve binned (using litter pickers and gloves obviously).

The risk of them being contaminated by the virus makes the need to dispose of them properly even more essential. Especially if we want to do everything we can to avoid a second wave of cases.

So please, people, have the decency to use a bin – it’s not difficult.

I SEE Mr Frank McAveety is standing down as group Labour leader in Glasgow (Frank McAveety to step down as

Glasgow Labour leader, June 24).

Will he be missed? Just ask all the women of Glasgow City Council run by Labour, who were denied equal pay in 2017 and for 10 years. Just ask the women of North Lanarkshire Council, run by Labour, what they think of the Labour party... some of whom died protesting for equal pay.

I just wonder who will fill his Glasgow Times column – another honest Labour member who supports women’s equality? Hamish Campbell

THERE is much discussion about non-compliance on the facecovering rules on public transport.

Whatever happened to the inspectors who regularly checked buses and trains for potential fraud? Surely such resources could be utilised to ensure compliance with the regulations? I can understand that the police can’t be expected to cover such a wide area but we need to get the message over to those who think the rules do not apply to them, and utilising other resources may be the answer – otherwise the whole point of the exercise will be seriously diluted. I NOTE the cleansing staff are looking for a pay rise. They came out to work without any protective equipment or mask on and three people to a van – they are the real champions of Glasgow.

The senior management have made really stupid decisions, making the city like a landfill site. They have just sat in their houses, and didn’t use their imagination to perhaps utilise other resources such as the traffic wardens or the community payback service to pick up fly-tipped bulk material, empty food waste bins and pick up litter.
