If someone is overpaid then it’s due back as it was not their’s in the first place, also they should have contacted the pension department to advise of the overpayment. If the amount is due and it is a debt after a period of six years the amount due may not need to be paid back as long as a person does not admit to owing this amount. Seek legal advice.
