HOLLIE TO HOLLYWOOD
ATALENTED Glasgow youngster has set out on a fundraising mission to showcase her skills in Hollywood after winning a global competition.
Hollie Peel endured a gruelling audition process for the Vocal Star contest earlier this year and has now been offered a once-in-alifetime opportunity to travel to Tinseltown.
The 12-year-old will undergo a week-long training exercise before meeting with top American talent scouts and record producers.
Hollie, from Cardonald, told the Glasgow Times: “I am so excited to go to Hollywood and can’t wait to work with people in the industry that have helped famous people like J.Lo.
“It’s a big opportunity to get noticed and help my singing career.
“I was so nervous at my audition but when I got through I was pure buzzing.”
When she arrives in California, Hollie will be coached by A-list trainers Damon Sharpe, who has produced songs for the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Ariana Grande, and Nick Cooper, the vocal coach for Katy Perry and Beyonce.
However, the youngster needs around £2000 to turn her dreams into reality, prompting her teacher from The School of Glee, Katy Boyle, to begin a fundraising drive.
Katy, who will join Hollie on the trip in August 2021, has raised around £400 so far towards their flight and accommodation costs.
But, with coronavirus restrictions meaning they’re not able to host charity events, the pair are fully reliant on donations.
Katy said: “She’ll be meeting with important people in the industry, it’s a really big opportunity – imagine being a 12-year-old girl and getting to sing in front of record producers.
“Last year she was shortlisted and went on to win Most Versatile
Performer of the Year at the Young Entertainer’s Award in London.
“She’s really, really talented and done so well so we want to get her to Hollywood. She deserves it.”
The rising star, who hopes to follow in the footsteps of her idols Andrea Dae, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys, was hand-picked by famous producer and writer
George Caceres, known for the show Pop Star.
Katy and Hollie hope to host a number of charity fundraisers next year, when lockdown restrictions are eased.
