Fears for safety on city centre street
'Our street is suffering under wave of criminals'
IGO to a different street for my bus now, it’s unpredictable the street now (Warning of crime wave on street, Monday). As the article says, you just don’t know when the next person will get assaulted and that may be you for just standing there.
The city centre is a joke now due to the rehousing decision during lockdown.

GLASGOW city centre has become somewhat of a no-go area since the start of lockdown.
The shops are dead, half of which probably won’t even reopen or will close for good.
I personally know of one person who has moved back home to England because living in Merchant City, of all places, has become too frightening a place to live because drug dealers and users are literally ruling the streets.
How can this have happened? And how can they continue to let this happen to our beautiful city? The pointless mandatory mask-wearing is killing retail as well as the restrictions on pubs/ restaurants which are literally destroying these businesses that have worked so hard to make Glasgow the place it is.
It is heartbreaking to know that our city will never be the same. Eilidh McPherson Graham

YES they should be open ASAP and have never shut in the first place (Do you think gyms and pools should open sooner? Glasgow Times Facebook).
The best way out of this situation is a healthier nation.

WHAT about the hundreds of dancing and gymnastics clubs clubs up and down the country which still can’t open?
So many children through to young adults affected and unable to dance/exercise, which is so good for their mental health and wellbeing, being with their friends and competing.
It’s just not the same doing it in the house.

THEY’RE going on about obesity yet they let fast-food outlets open first.
In gyms you’re meant to wipe down equipment after you use it anyway.
If they restrict numbers to start off I don’t see why they can’t reopen.
