Money must be found for airport link and crossrail
SO the people of Glasgow may be getting a new rail link to Dunfermline ( Boost for bid to restore rail link, October 1). Well, I am sure that the good people of Glasgow are jumping up and down with excitement at the thought. This should also put a smile on the face of the SNP government and council, as it may not cost them a penny, but after 13 years and numerous failures they are unable to find any money to give the city the two things that would connect and help investment in Glasgow – and that is the airport rail link and crossrail.
And as for the connectivity report, which does look positive, do not hold your breath.
I NOTE the council is going ahead to place smelly food waste bins onto the already cluttered streets of Glasgow.
I haven’t seen any consultation done with citizens or with the councillors of Glasgow. I doubt very much they would place any bins at George Square.

MR Simpson, the road sign is in fact at the start of a street ( Letters, September 30). What the picture doesn’t show is that to the left is Hinshelwood Place, the road cars should be turning down to get onto the main road, Edmiston Dr, instead of mine, a one- way street, and before that a road to the right, Rhynie Dr, to take them onto Copland Rd.
So no need whatsoever for a three- point turn anywhere, not to mention the lack of deterrents to stop them speeding past the school.

IT’S now clear that the coronavirus is once again spiralling out of control with huge increases in numbers infected and deaths.
The lockdown was opened up too quickly with Government ministers almost bullying people back to work, schools and universities going back and widespread abuse of the regulations and guidance, some
of it deliberately by extreme organisations.
The behaviour of certain groups is almost beyond belief and there is no doubt whatsoever that, as we approach Christmas and New Year, this anti- social behaviour will become rampant.
No one wants to say it, but we have two options:
1. Allow the virus to rip through society in the hope that it eventually burns itself out but sacrificing tens of thousands of our fellow citizens in the process.
2. Introduce a proper nationwide lockdown for the next three months to drive the infection rate down to zero, in the hope that we get nearer the production of a vaccine.
This constant dithering, opening then closing, making things up on the hoof, is simply not working.
And as for the connectivity report ... do not hold your breath
