-

A THUG who carried out a string of attacks including leaving an innocent girl scarred for life has been jailed for more than eight years.

Malcolm Cumlin struck between June 10 and September 27 2019.

A judge heard how Cumlin attacked the 18 year-old at a flat in Glasgow’s Possilpark.

She was there with others, but did not know the 31-year-old.

But, the teenager became annoyed when the thug suddenly called her a “cow”.

Cumlin insisted he would “slash” her, but she did not think he was serious.

Prosecutor Angela Gray told the High Court in Glasgow: “He told her to bend over so he could ‘show her’.

“Still believing him to be joking, she leaned towards him.

“Cumlin then ran the blade of a knife across her cheek slashing her from the ear to the corner of her mouth.”

Cumlin had months earlier tried to kill a man outside a shop in the city’s Lambhill.

He repeatedly knifed him leaving this victim needing emergency treatment for a number of chest wounds.

Cumlin also attacked stranger at a car wash in Possilpark.

The 18 year-old victim had recently arrived in Scotland seeking refuge from the civil war in Syria.

Cumlin struck him on the face with a bottle leaving him scarred below the eye.

Cumlin was sentenced to eight years and four months.

He had previously admitted assaulting the two teenagers to their severe injury and permanent disfigurement as well as attempting to murder Mr Sutherland.

Lady Stacey told him: “I have to take a very dim view of this.”

Cumlin will also be supervised for a further three years on his release.
