Turnbull relishes link-up with Edouard
DAVID TURNBULL is relishing the chance to link up with “world-class” team-mate Odsonne Edouard, with the midfielder believing the striker to be on his wavelength.
Both Turnbull and Edouard have been in sparkling form of late, with the midfielder’s goal giving Celtic their win over Aberdeen on Wednesday night, and the striker scoring his 20th goal of the season in the weekend win over St Johnstone.
Former Motherwell man
Turnbull is hoping to prolong their productive partnership for as long as possible. “He is world class,” Turnbull (inset) said. “He is a great player to play with. I can link up well with him. You know he is going to do something magic or play a one-two with you. We are on the same wavelength.” Turnbull also believes that this Celtic side are developing a steeliness in their defending and a stronger mentality than they have shown previously during this largely forgettable season.
“It could have been [different],” he said. “But on Wednesday night we defended set-pieces brilliantly and defended our box very well when they were putting pressure on. There were spells in the second half when they had most of the ball. It could have finished differently earlier on in the season. I thought we were brilliant.
“Confidence is coming because obviously we are winning games. That is a good run we have gone on now. Every game we go into we feel more confident. Any time you win you feel more confident.”
