Fear for woman after teen’s threats

-

A TEENAGER left a woman frightened for her safety after smashing a window and shouting abuse.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that Paige Muirhead was so drunk she cannot remember the events of March 10, 2020.

The witness was in her home on Carntyne Path when she looked out of the window and saw two people at the back of her property around 7pm.

Muirhead threw a stone at the house, smashing a window, and then began shouting and swearing.

The court was told she shouted: “You are a f ******* cow” and “I’m going to batter you” while also calling out to the witness to challenge her to a fight.

Depute fiscal Ms Slater said: “Fearing for her safety, she dialled 999 and requested police.

“The accused was last seen running off towards

Hogarth Park.”

Muirhead was later arrested on April 5.

Her defence brief said the 18-year-old is a vulnerable young woman but that she is trying to turn her fortunes around.

The lawyer said: “She accepts full responsibility for her actions.

“She was intoxicated and has no recollection of what happened.

“She is extremely vulnerable and has grown up in deprived circumstances and is someone who has suffered a lot of trauma.

“Her family has now moved to a different area of the city for their safety and this move has been beneficial. She is also engaging with the job centre to get into further education.”

Sheriff Daniel Kelly gave the teenager a structured deferred sentence. She will return to the court in three months.
