Investigat­ion as man dies after car bursts into flames

A MAN has died after a car burst into flames in Thornlieba­nk on Saturday morning.

Emergency services were called to Kilmuir Drive to reports of a car on fire.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguish­ed the fire, but a man, aged 39, who was inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigat­ion has been launched into the blaze.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were called to a car on fire in the Kilmuir Drive area of Glasgow at around 11.10am on Saturday, April 17. Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguish­ed.

“The 39-year-old man, who was within the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Police enquiries are continuing, however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstan­ces surroundin­g the death.

“A full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
