Veteran Davis hungry for more glory

- CHRIS JACK

STEVEN DAVIS believes Rangers’ Old Firm victory shows their hunger for further success as they moved a step closer to a dream double.

The champions set up a Scottish Cup quarter-final tie against St Johnstone next weekend with a 2-0 win, thanks to a strike from Davis and a

Jonjoe Kenny own goal. And the 36-year-old Northern Irishman is determined to continue striving for silverware as Rangers also set their sights on an unbeaten Premiership campaign.

“At a club like Rangers, questions are always asked of you,” he said. “Do you still have that desire? We certainly want the league championship to be the first of many for us.

This is another step in the right direction. There is a lot of work to be done before we can try and get our hands on the trophy but we just look forward to the next round now.

“I’m loving it. To be playing at this age and stage of my career for the club I love and with the chance to challenge for trophies, it’s a great feeling and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.

“Whenever you get to this age, it’s important just to keep playing. Luckily I’ve played a good number of games this season and my body feels good so long may that continue.

“I think this is a game we needed. It was an important one for us and we knew how much it meant to everyone going into it. I’m delighted we got the result and put in a good performance.”
