Substitutes CRAIG GORDON
Sensational double save to prevent a shock opener for the home side after 22 minutes. Proved again why he is Scotland’s No.1.
RYAN FRASER
Slightly out of position, Fraser did okay. Second-half showing was an improvement. Floated dangerous crosses in which should have been converted.
JACK HENDRY
Didn’t have his best game. Deservedly a first choice, his ball-playing ability and pace are two of his top attributes. Didn’t display the former well at all.
GRANT HANLEY
Welcome return after his ban. The defence is better off with him, but all three centre-backs were shaky at points, especially in the first period.
KIERAN TIERNEY
Exceptional last-ditch clearance late on to prevent the Faroes from scoring a tap-in. Recent good connection with Andy Robertson failed to ignite.
ANDY ROBERTSON
A much quieter game than his showing against Israel. As mentioned, the ineffectiveness of he and Tierney’s pairing played a part in a lacklustre performance.
BILLY GILMOUR
A real classy player. Not outstanding but he seems to do everything in the right manner, which ends up standing out on a poor night for the team.
SCOTT McTOMINAY
Moved into midfield yet struggled. Slow on the ball, he was also guilty of poor passing to give away the ball too many times, particularly first half.
JOHN McGINN
Didn’t see as much of the ball as Steve Clarke would’ve liked. Didn’t get the chance to drive at Faroes’ defence, a key strength of his. Missed a point-blank header.
RYAN CHRISTIE
Started in place of Che Adams playing just off the striker. Tried his best but struggled for rhythm. Booked, meaning he’s suspended for Moldova.
LYNDON DYKES
Another goal for the big man. His hold-up play and willingness to chase every lost cause weren’t quite there on this occasion. Booked so will miss Moldova.
Callum McGregor (for Hendry 67) Rested from the start, an unusual decision from Clarke. Kevin Nisbet (for Christie 82) Should’ve been on earlier.
Nathan Patterson
Fraser 82) Superb impact. Cross for goal was stupendous. Liam Cooper (for Gilmour 90) On at the death to bolster the defence.
