More firms should be honest on green move

- Dr John Cameron

IN a brave statement Volvo, the Swedish car maker, stated that the greenhouse gas emissions from the production of electric cars can be 70% higher than the petrol equivalent and it can take up to nine years to cancel out the production emissions.

This new transparency and honesty approach by Volvo is to be welcomed. Now can we have similar honesty from the wind turbine industry?

How many years will it take to cancel out the production and erection emissions?

They could at the same time let the public know how many birds and bats have been slaughtered by their “green” turbines.

SCOTLAND desperately needs independence because we are being dictated to by a front bench at Westminster consisting mostly of millionaires who haven’t a clue how most people live. They do not understand how people on low incomes needed the additional £20 a week top up to the Universal Credit, not only to pay for food but also for clothes for the children and to heat their homes. A large number of people who are entitled to receive Universal Credit are also working.

The way the Tory government at Westminster is behaving, the poorer population will be living in extreme poverty whilst they are living in luxury. The Tories seem to think that governing the UK is a type of board game and all they have to do is move the pieces around.

THE “baby doomers” are the 60% of young people polls show are “very/extremely worried” about climate change as well as the 40% who hesitate to have children.

Educational psychologists warn that school children need help to develop the flexibility to respond to future perils.

They need to be more resilient with greater exposure to critical thinking, reasoning and creativity.

They especially advise against “doom scrolling”: don’t read every depressing headline.

The “war-baby” generation handled decades of nuclear war threats and serious illnesses such as TB and polio while replacing the stiff upper lip of the “greatest generation” who faced the Depression and Hitler with Greta’s tirades and the Green death cult hasn’t been an unalloyed blessing.
