Postecoglou vows to keep own house ‘nice and beautiful’

- GRAEME McGARRY

ANGE POSTECOGLOU says he is not paying any attention to the potential departure of Steven Gerrard as manager of Rangers, preferring to concentrate on making his own house “nice and beautiful”.

Gerrard is expected to complete a move to Aston Villa by the end of this week, bringing his three-and-a-half year spell in charge at Ibrox to an end.

But as he picked up the SPFL Premiership manager of the month award for October, the Celtic manager said that it makes no difference to him who is in the dugout across the city, as he remains “laserfocused” on his own job.

“I am fully focused on our own back yard,” Postecoglou said.

“There is enough here, there is a lot to do and we have been pretty good so far at making sure we don’t take our focus away from what is important.

“For me, right at this point of my tenure at the club, it’s just all about Celtic.

“What anyone else is doing, or what noise is around the place, it’s just not of interest to me.

“They are the kind of distractions I avoid. I have been really laser focused on here and I will continue to be.

“I am trying to get everyone here to be the same and that hasn’t been too difficult.

“I am just trying to make people aware that we can’t get distracted by anyone else or anything else.

“We are trying to build something here and when you are doing that and trying to be successful, you can’t afford to be looking over your fence at what others are doing.

“We have to build our house, make it nice and beautiful, and then see how it stacks up against the rest of the neighbourhood.”
