Catterall may move up weight to fight Taylor
JACK CATTERALL admits he could fight Josh Taylor in a rematch in the welterweight division.
The Englishman controversially lost out to undisputed super lightweight champion in February on points despite widespread opinion that he won the bout.
An investigation into the fight by the British Boxing Board of Control even led to judge Ian John-Lewis being downgraded.
Taylor has made it clear that he will move up to the 147lbs division and has no interest in getting back in the ring with Catterall at super lightweight.
But Catterall admits he could also move up a weight if it means locking horns with Taylor for a second time.
Catterall said: “There are options there, I’m not ruling out moving up to 147 myself and fighting him (Taylor) there but we’ll see.
“There are loads of good fights, the 140 division is stacked. There are a lot of big fights to be made.
“I’m confident I’ve shown I belong at that world level and my hunger is still there to go and prove everyone wrong.”
Despite the bitter disappointment of being denied victory over the Tartan Tornado, Catterall has vowed to move on.
Speaking to Seconds Out, he added: “I want to get as close as I can to a world title, I should have the world titles but it’s about the correct fights now and getting into a position to go and challenge for them later this year.
“It’s about rebuilding now, pushing and proving I belong at that level. It was difficult, we spent a couple of days at home, we were upset, we cried, we moaned.
“But we’ve drawn a line underneath it now, it’s the past and it’s about moving forward.”
