Carer: I’ll take you down to play tig with the buses

- BY KIRSTY FEERICK

A GLASGOW carer threatened a service user saying “any more of your sh** I’ll take you down to play tig with the buses”.

Clark Findlay also put a remote control in a vulnerable woman’s mouth and told her to “shut up” as well as “you’re p****** me off the day”.

He also pushed her hand away using force while assisting her and shouted “get aff me” or words to that effect.

The support worker has now been struck off from the Scottish Social Service Council’s ( SSSC) register for his threatening and abusive language.

He was slammed by the care watchdog who questioned the support worker’s “integrity and values” following the vile behaviour.

It comes after Findlay’s “intimidating” actions happened in the homes of both service users causing “fear” and put them both at “risk”.

He has been struck off for his “lack of respect” and “misuse of power” while employed by Quarriers in Glasgow.

A report from the council said: “Service users have the right to expect that they will be treated with dignity and respect. Pushing AA’s hand away, telling them to get off you and telling them that they were p****** you off [ information redacted] is abusive behaviour. Placing a remote control in AA’s mouth is physically abusive.

“Telling BB that you would ‘ take them down to play tig with the buses’, or words to that effect, constitutes verbally abusive, threatening and intimidating behaviour towards a vulnerable service user.

“Your behaviour caused, or was likely to cause, AA and BB to feel distress and fear and placed AA and BB at risk of emotional harm in a place where AA and BB should have felt at home, knowing they are cared for, valued and treated with respect and dignity.

“Abusive behaviour by a social service worker is a breach of the trust and confidence placed in social service workers by service users, their families and the wider public.

“Your behaviour is a misuse of the power and position placed in social service workers, while also placing service users at risk of harm.

“Your behaviour calls into question your integrity and values.

“You have shown on multiple occasions a complete lack of respect towards service users in your care.”

Findlay failed to show insight into the seriousness of his actions after denying the most serious aspects of his behaviour.
