Woman’s plea following hoax calls about dog

- BY AVA WHYTE

AKNIGHTSWOOD woman has told of her heartbreak as she continues to search for her missing dog whilst being plagued by cruel hoax callers.

Margaret Stephen has been desperately searching for her dog Jamie, affectionately known as ‘ big boy’, since he got out of her garden on October 26.

Jamie is a male Yorkshire terrier and is black and tan in colour. He was last seen on Great Western Road after he was struck in a glancing blow by a car near to Old Drumchapel.

Margaret said that ‘ big boy’ has sentimental value to her as he was her sister’s dog before her sudden death.

She said: “Just before my sister passed away her husband died. After that I went up to Aberdeen, that’s where Jamie comes from, to help her and then all of a sudden she died.

“She had no family so I brought the wee dogs down the road. One already got out and we didn’t get her back, that really got to me.

“Jamie has always been attached to me; I’m lost without him. On the day he went missing I turned my back for five minutes and the garden gate opened without me realising.

“I turned round to get him because he’s always beside me and he wasn’t there. The last official sighting was at the tennis courts in Garscadden. I’ve lost a brother- in law, I’ve lost my sister, and now I’ve lost the dogs. It’s just so hard.”

Margaret created missing dog posters for Jamie shortly after his disappearance in an effort to get him home.

Unfortunately, the posters have attracted at least one hoax caller who has been repeatedly taunting Margaret claiming they have Jamie. She added: “He phoned me again and he’s phoned my work.

“He’s made me run in and out of my work making me think he’s got the dog ... He then said he was by the furniture place on South Street and I immediately turned to go there. “That’s when he shouted ‘ oh no, it’s got knocked down and it’s splattered across the street’.

“I couldn’t believe it. Imagine doing that to someone. He’s been calling me today too and he tried on Tuesday.

“I’ve also had a guy who did the exact same thing when Jamie’s sister went missing.”

Margaret is now appealing to those in both Knightswood and Drumchapel to look out for him and to get in contact if they see him.

She said: “It’s so painful, they were sentimental to me because they’re part of my sister. I’m just trying my best and I’m just hoping he’ll be there. At the end of the day, all I have is hope.”
