Families offered free tickets for Hampden tie

AGLASGOW football club is inviting local school children to show their support at Hampden Park this weekend, completely free of charge.

While Queen’s Park FC has previously offered free tickets for schools on a smaller scale, Kieran Koszary, head of commercial at the club, has explained why this Saturday’s cinch Championship fixture against Hamilton is the perfect opportunity to inspire a new generation of football fans.

He said: “We’ve been running the free tickets for schools initiative for over a year now, but once we knew we were playing at the iconic Hampden Park stadium this week we felt it was important to make the experience accessible to as many young people as possible. In the run- up to Christmas, we also thought it would be a brilliant way to give kids and parents a free day out while growing the Queen’s Park family.”

To launch the new extended programme, star Queen’s Park FC player Jack Thomson paid a visit to Annette Street Primary School in Govanhill, where tickets were personally delivered to youngsters before an informative Q& A session and a spot of football training.

Kieran said: “Our trip to the school was fantastic and the kids and staff were all so appreciative.

“The players are looking forward to a game in front of an animated and passionate crowd which is something that’s guaranteed when kids come along.

“We’ll also have activities like face- painting and music in the stadium’s concourse.

“It’s going to be a great experience and real celebration of the club as well as the families who support them.”
