What a difference sunshine makes ...
I’ M just back from sundenched Benidorm where I was reflecting on how the resident population benefits from 300 days or so of clear skies.
From walking about, to engaging in outdoor sports or just watching the world go by, it’s so much better.
Back in rain- drenched and cold Glasgow we hide away in our houses not daring to go out, frightened even to put the heating on.
Now if some bright spark could figure out how to turn the billions of droplets of rain lashing this fair city into energy we could be as warm as Dubai and make our lives more pleasant and put the greedy power companies out of business.

I WAS pleased to read that Scottish clubs will be banned from heading balls in training the day before or after matches.
The guidelines are welcomed and I hope can they make a major contribution in preventing players suffering brain injuries.
There are too many examples of footballers suffering from diseases such as dementia in later years.
We need to protect footballers now, particularly youngsters who are just starting out in the game. Martin Stewart

I WAS shopping in the Buchanan Galleries over the weekend and was thinking about the proposals to demolish the centre.
It would be an absolute disgrace if plans are given the go- ahead to knock down the centre.
This area is already suffering with Sauchiehall Street in a terrible state due to so many empty units and major fires.
If Buchanan Galleries is demolished, this spot will just become a building site again for years.
What sense does it make to cause more disruption to this part of town? What will happen to all the workers from the shops?
The council should be thinking about how it can work with landlords to ensure there are no empty shops on Sauchiehall Street.
This used to be the top street in Glasgow for shopping – sadly that can’t be said anymore.
