Metro vision for city will never happen

-

WHY are we getting so excited about this latest news about the Metro system in Glasgow?

We all know it will not happen, especially with the current SNP government and its lapdog in the City Chambers, who just do what they are told, to the detriment of our city.

Even if it does go ahead, the fact is we have very little connectivity between the north and south of the river – look at Newcastle and London, for example, their metro and tube networks have no problem crossing the Tyne or Thames, whereas we mostly have to make our crossovers with walks between Buchanan Bus Station, Central and Queen Street Station.

The problem we have is not enough transport hubs which would connect bus, train, Metro and Subway.

However, with a little thought, we could connect north and south with hubs by reinstating the Crossrail line – the only true line to connect north and south and still in existence. Ian Stewart Via email

IT’S a real pity that the building can’t be saved ( Glasgow reacts as historic church to be ‘ unavoidably’ demolished, Tuesday).

It’s a lovely bit of architecture. But I suppose if it’s impossible to save it from being demolished then it’s better the land is used for something. Brian McGuire Posted online

I STILL can’t believe the council is going ahead with the extended parking hours and hike in fees.

I take it there is no chance of a consultation on these changes?

Council chiefs have insisted that they want to roll out these horrendous changes and put off visitors to the city. Name and address supplied
