Cops rush to station alert

COP rushed to hospital after ‘ incident’ at busy Glasgow train station.

The incident took place at Queen Street Station in the city centre shortly after 9.30pm on Easter Sunday. Emergency crews rushed to the scene.

Now, the British Transport Police has revealed two men in their 20s have been charged following the incident.

According to the force, members of staff reported ‘ intoxicated members of the public being abusive’. After attending the ordeal, BTP says one officer was taken to hospital.

Meanwhile, one man has been charged with two alleged counts of assault of rail staff, one count of assault of an emergency worker, threatening and abusive behaviour, and resisting arrest.

A second man was charged with one count of alleged assault of an emergency worker, threatening and abusive behaviour, and resisting arrest.

During the incident, ScotRail said services to and from the station were subject to delays, revision, or cancellation.

However, the travel company said train services shortly returned to normal before 10.30pm on Sunday evening.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: “Two men in their 20s have been charged following an incident at Glasgow Queen Street railway station on March 31 where members of staff reported intoxicated members of the public being abusive.

“Officers attended and one officer was taken to hospital following the incident.

“One man has been charged with two counts of assault of rail staff, one count of assault of an emergency worker, one count of threatening and abusive behaviour, and resisting arrest.

“A second man has been charged with one count of assault of an emergency worker, one count of threatening and abusive behaviour, and one count of resisting arrest.”
