WHEN I read media articles suggesting that a scaled back offering of the Commonwealth Games could return to Glasgow in 2026 I couldn’t believe it – especially when you find out that the Australian state of Victoria withdrew as hosts in July because of rising costs.

Also Singapore and Malaysia have ruled out hosting this event and it seems no other country with the exception of Glasgow wants to touch this event with a bargepole because of the expenditure.

I would suggest this SNP government get its act together and forget Commonwealth Games and concentrate fully on running the country, which is in a total mess at the moment due to all its cutbacks.

It’s a total joke even suggesting Glasgow host the Commonwealth Games.

Our city at the moment is a dump, run down and over run with rats caused by SNP waste removal cutbacks.

The SNP need to start concentrating on the country, particularly the NHS, which is on its knees and understaffed, Policing again understaffed and can’t cope with the crime, gangs and drugs on our streets.

Education is still in a mess and our teachers are unhappy with the added pressures they are put in with the behaviour of some children in their classes.

All our local community services are slowly disappearing again due to cutbacks, the SNP need to urgently address all these problems and many more and forget anything else particularly Commonwealth Games. E. K. Crookston

AS PREDICTED over the Easter holidays, the free bus travel cards for under- 21s provided the ideal route for the city’s teenage neds to cause havoc.

I lost count how many times I boarded a bus and was faced with teens in black hoodies swearing and playing their loud music at the back of buses.

What a great scheme this is. Thank you Scottish Government for ruining our bus network. Angry pensioner, Springburn
