POLICE have reconstructed the scene of a fatal crash where a cyclist died after being hit by a lorry in Bearsden.

The rare reconstruction was carried out by road cops yesterday in the town.

It comes after we reported the incident that took place on Tuesday, March 19.

Una Brandreth from the Stafford area in England passed away following the horror crash on Manse Road at the junction with Drymen Road in the town.

The incident involved Una, who was a cyclist and a heavy goods vehicle. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, however, the 56- year- old woman was tragically pronounced dead.

The lorry driver was uninjured during the accident.

Almost one month on from the horror crash, as part of an investigation into it, officers have carried out a physical and digital reconstruction of it in Bearsden.

In images, cops could be seen on the road as they carried out the reconstruction.

Officers were also seen with a camera discussing the incident, while a truck and cyclist were also pictured at the scene.

Police said the families of those involved were notified of the reconstruction beforehand.

During it, the force said Drymen Road will be open for the majority of it, however, a contraflow system is in place.

Following the incident last month, Una’s family said the

much- loved mum would be missed.

In a statement, they said: “Una was a much- loved, sister, mother and daughter, and will be much missed by everyone who knew her.”

Announcing the reconstruction, Sergeant Chris Hoggans said: “This reconstruction will enable us to fully establish the cause of

the collision which led to Una’s death.

“My thoughts remain with her family, and we continue to appeal to anyone with any information or dash cam footage to get in touch.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland added: “Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland quoting incident number 0590 of March 19 2024.”

After the crash, we previously reported a call was made to make roads safer in the area.

Residents in Bearsden called for East Dunbartonshire Council to commit ‘ to making streets and roads’ safer following the incident.

In a petition, locals raised concerns over several ‘ serious road traffic accidents’ in the town.
