A SHOPPING centre in the city has dished out a total of £ 2000 to two charities that empower people with physical and learning disabilities.

The 77th Glasgow Disabled Scouts and musicALL are set to receive £ 1000 each from Buchanan Galleries as it continues its investment in the Glasgow community.

The financial support will bolster the charities’ impact, drive meaningful change and improve the lives local residents.

The backing comes from Buchanan Galleries’ owners, Landsec, via its social impact programme, Landsec Futures, a £ 20 million fund.

Since April 2023, the shopping centre has awarded a total of £ 14,400 in grants to local community groups, contributing to the growth and wellbeing of the local area.

musicALL offers highquality music opportunities to young people with physical or learning disabilities, visual impairment and neurodivergence, through free workshops, tutoring, rehearsals and performances.

The 77th Glasgow Disabled Scouts provide accessible Scouting programmes for young people aged six to 25 with physical disabilities and life- limiting conditions, striving towards building self- confidence, independence, and life skills.

Kathy Murdoch, centre director at Buchanan Galleries, said: “Retail has always been at the centre of communities, with shopping destinations acting as hubs that bring local people together while creating important value for regional economies.

“As a centre, we believe in the importance of ensuring that everyone, regardless of their abilities, feels welcomed and supported.

“Both musicALL and 77th Glasgow Disabled Scouts bring joy and opportunities to people with disabilities, and we hope the contribution can help them continue the fantastic work they do within the local community.”

The Landsec Futures Community Grants Scheme provides funding with grants between £ 1000 and £ 3000 to create positive change in the area.
