Are you Still Game for a walk around Craiglang?
GLASGOW’S Walking and Wheeling Festival will take place at Glasgow Green next weekend.
The free event will be held on Saturday, May 11, and in the two weeks after that event, the festival will continue with theme walks across the city – booking is required for these.
There will be themes of walks around the city over the following two weeks with various activities on offer for all age groups including health walks around Glasgow Green, outdoor games, music,
face painting, arts and crafts, and free bike repairs and services.
The festival will run from 11am until 3pm on Saturday, with the council’s avenues team also present to provide updates on the development of city centre public realm projects.
Councillor Angus Millar, convener for Climate and Transport at Glasgow City Council, said: “We can all look forward to the Walking & Wheeling Festival next month which offers so much for people and families to take part in at Glasgow Green on May 11 and in the following fortnight.
“I am delighted to say that our Avenues and Countryside
Ranger teams will be joining our partner organisations in delivering the fantastic series of walks all around the city during the festival.”
Some of the walks that will feature in the two weeks after the main event include Going on a Bear Hunt, Explore Hamiltonhill Claypits, Pollok History Walking Tour, and Still Game for a Walk around Craiglang, among others.

Artists Walker & Bromwich have been preparing a festival procession in collaboration with local schools and communities.
Organised by the Glasgow Avenues Programme in partnership with Glasgow Life and Sustrans, the Walking and Wheeling Festival has many organisations volunteering to ensure its successful delivery.
Caroline Austin, engagement officer for Sustrans, said: “Getting around Glasgow is so much better when you’re walking and wheeling.
“With activities for families of all ages on offer throughout the day, including exciting updates on ongoing projects across the city, we encourage everyone to head down to Glasgow Green on Saturday, May 11 and join in the fun.”
