IT’S a nos­tal­gia-fest this week as tick­ets go on sale to great­est hits tours from the likes of The Streets, En­rique Igle­sias and Cast. There’s plenty of new mu­sic to look for­ward to as well, with acts in­clud­ing Honne and Against the Cur­rent plug­ging up­com­ing re­leases with gigs in Manch­ester.

Get your wal­lets out and your browsers primed for this lot. Against The Cur­rent Septem­ber 23, O2 Ritz FRESH from sup­port­ing Fall Out Boy on their lat­est UK tour, Against the Cur­rent are re­turn­ing to play some head­line shows of their own.

Formed in 2011 by Chrissy Costanza, Dan Gow and Will Ferri, the Pough­keep­sie poprock­ers gained a huge YouTube fol­low­ing with their cov­ers of hits by artists in­clud­ing Bruno Mars, Tay­lor Swift and Paramore. Af­ter two self-re­leased EPs, their de­but full length al­bum In Our Bones in 2016 pro­pelled them to even greater at­ten­tion and paved the way for their first world tour. The band’s sec­ond al­bum is on the way soon – in­flu­enced, Chrissy says, by Manch­ester’s own Oa­sis and ‘that re­ally or­ganic rock band sound’. The Streets Jan­uary 25 and 26, 2019, O2 Ritz THE Streets have an­nounced more live dates for 2019 fol­low­ing their sold-out re­union tour ear­lier this year.

Mike Skinner and co will per­form two dates at Manch­ester’s O2 Apollo as part of their The Darker The Shadow The Brighter The Light: Part Two tour. Their re­cent gigs saw them play their great­est hits in­clud­ing When You Wasn’t Fa­mous, Fit But You Know It and Dry Your Eyes, from their five stu­dio al­bums.

This time around they’re ex­pected to show­case new ma­te­rial af­ter re­leas­ing their first tracks in six years in­clud­ing If You Ever Need to Talk I’m Here. En­rique Igle­sias Oc­to­ber 26, Manch­ester Arena SPAN­ISH sen­sa­tion En­rique Igle­sias (be­low) is re­turn­ing for his first UK tour in four years to per­form his great­est hits.

The Latin pop king has re­leased 10 stu­dio al­bums to date, spawn­ing hits in­clud­ing Hero, Ad­dicted and Bail­amos and rack­ing up al­bum sales of more than 150 mil­lion world­wide. He’ll be play­ing them all at Manch­ester Arena as part of a tour that also in­cludes dates in Lon­don, Glas­gow, Dublin and Birm­ing­ham. Honne Novem­ber 23, Manch­ester Academy 2 WITH a name that trans­lates to ‘true feel­ings’ in Ja­panese, East Lon­don elec­tronic duo Honne wear their hearts on their sleeves with their sen­ti­men­tal, synth-heavy soul.

A new al­bum is on the way this Au­gust, the fol­low-up to 2016 de­but Warm On A Cold Night, and the pair will be play­ing a string of shows in sup­port of it in­clud­ing a date at Manch­ester’s Academy 2. Pro­pelled from Manch­ester’s DIY scene into the na­tional spot­light, via a ma­jor deal with Is­land Records and a flurry of hype, the band have gone on to sup­port the Kaiser Chiefs on a mas­sive UK arena tour as well as open­ing for Kasabian. Now they’re head­ing out to play some of their big­gest head­line shows in­clud­ing a date at Manch­ester’s O2 Ritz. Ex­pect a ‘turbo-charged joyride of Strokes-in­fused in­die, garage and disco’, as Ci­tyLife’s David Sue de­scribed their crit­i­cally ac­claimed de­but al­bum, Tell Me If You’d Like To Tick­ets are on sale from gigsand­tours.com/tour/ spring-king. Cast De­cem­ber 13, O2 Ritz BRIT­POP le­gends Cast – formed from the ashes of The La’s and Shack – will be per­form­ing their era-defin­ing big­gest hits on a UK tour this win­ter. The shows, in­clud­ing a date at Manch­ester’s O2 Ritz, come in sup­port of their new com­pi­la­tion vinyl al­bum Sin­gles 1995-2017.

Af­ter split­ting in 2001, the orig­i­nal line-up re­united in 2012 to pro­duce their first new al­bum in over a decade, Trou­bled Times, fol­lowed by last year’s Kick­ing Up the Dust. Their lat­est re­lease pulls to­gether 15 of the band’s best-loved sin­gles from across all six al­bums, in­clud­ing top 20 sin­gles Fine­time, Al­right, Sand­storm, Walk­a­way, Fly­ing, Free Me, Guid­ing Star, Live The Dream, I’m So Lonely, and Beat Mama. The Story So Far Oc­to­ber 12, O2 Ritz CAL­I­FOR­NIA pop­punkers The Story So Far are head­ing across the pond for a new UK and Euro­pean tour.

Fans are ea­gerly await­ing new mu­sic af­ter their self-ti­tled third al­bum in 2015, and the fol­low-up is ex­pected to be re­leased later this year.
