WE are shuffling things around a bit this year and I think it might give us the opportunity to make Christmas more bearable.
I am sparing many thoughts for those who find Christmas tough. It is a time of year that can be the best for some and truly horrid for others.
Some will be preparing for it being their last Christmas together, some preparing for their first without a loved one, and for parents like us, there will be those preparing for a time where their children are well and truly missed beyond measure.
It is a time to be kind to each other, to look out for those less fortunate, to keep hearts wide open.
This year on Christmas day we will release doves for Reuben. I will also hang his baubles on the tree, light his candle and send him our love in abundance. All of this whilst holding our eldest treasure, Isaac, close to us and savouring every lovely moment of having him near. A gentle time of reflection and gratitude for what we have.
I am loving the alternative advents that are around. The many days of giving to others and the thoughts around the thankful calendars. Give Kindness is a beautiful one including messages each day, such as give kind comments to as many people as possible, leave a positive message for someone else to find, let someone know how much you appreciate their gift.
I think there’s room in these calendars for everyone. Gifts can be shared in many different forms.
This week we thank: Nina for her donation for her own birthday, Joyce C, Hansa M, Ian H, Asda Hyde and Disabled holidays and our wonderful volunteers who gift us their time every week.
The grotto last week was a fabulous success at Lymefield Garden Centre and runs every weekend now through to Christmas.
We also have a party night planned for December 13 at the brand new Crystal Ballroom in Glossop with a pop-up gin bar, what’s not to like? Call 01457 680023 to come and join in – you could treat your hard-working team to a fun night out including entertainment and a festive buffet for just £15pp.
Then in January you can join our endurance dance-ethon!
