Get a brush with the high life through your art work

-

YOU can take in one of the best views in Cheltenham – if you have the artistic skills to impress. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and some say it should never have been built, but whether you like Eagle Tower or not, the 175ft-high building in Montpellier Drive provides some of the best views of the town.

Members of the public are not normally allowed to go on to the roof, which is accessed via ladders above the highest floor level.

But the tower’s bosses are now not only encouraging someone to do that but are willing to give them £500 too.

The only catch is that they will have to produce a piece of artwork good enough to win a competition.

Jasmine Lowes, assistant building manager for Eagle Strategic Property Ltd, which owns the tower, said: “We are asking the local community, art students and any budding artists to submit a piece of art that relates to Eagle Tower.

“The entries can be in any medium the individual chooses and we can assist with access to the roof if required.

“We are hoping that local people will take the opportunity to express and relay their interpretation of the controversial tower.”

All entries need to be submitted to Eagle Tower’s reception on or before 4pm on August 20, 2018.

The artwork will then be displayed in the reception area, which will be open to the public to view and vote.

The competition winner will be announced on August 31 and presented with a cheque for £500.
