Car park will reopen as John Lewis launches
» PARKING in Cheltenham is set to get a little bit easier as a multi-storey car park is due to re-open.
John Lewis & Partners opens in the High Street at 10am on Thursday, October 18, and with it, the adjoining car park that has been closed since March 2016.
It’s the former Beechwood Shopping Centre car park which shut as part of the demolition and rebuilding work at the prime town centre site.
And it’s not going to be just for John Lewis shoppers as it returns to its original use a public car park.
A spokesman for John Lewis & Partners said: “There are 335 spaces and it is a public car park. “Opening hours are 30 minutes before and after shop trading hours.”
It will be a boost to the town’s shopping district, which has been affected by the Boots Corner closure that has sent motorists on long diversions, clogging up other roads in the town.
A new two-way system, on Albion Street, at the rear of the store providing access to the car park, has been introduced as part of the wider shake-up of the town’s often baffling one-way system.
