No half measures as Youde leads the way home

A CONTINGENT of more than 90 Almost Athletes produced some impressive performanc­es at the Stroud Half Marathon.

First home was Helena Youde in a paced 1.23.03 for fourth lady overall, followed by Ellie Laney in a personal best 1.29.24 and Patricia Peever in 1.33.48.

The men were led home by Prashnath Sripathi in 1.25.26, Martin Foster 1.27.11 and James Eastwood 1.27.36.

Conditions enabled a string of per- sonal bests from Matt Hickman 1.28.01, Matt Proome 1.30.19, Neil Tring 1.37.19, Thomas Wood 1.37.37, Kim Mansell 1.39.27, Jamie Watt 1.41.31, Lorraine Taylor 1.50.14, Hayley Woolnough 1.51.47, Chris Mcmahon 1.54.58, Mark Eavers breaking the two-hour barrier in 1.59.20 and Jayne Adams 2.14.51.

Over the full marathon distance, Josh Hand clocked 2.50 at Abingdon and Allan Green 4.38 at Rickmanswo­rth.

Karla Cleverley (2.34), Kasha Price and Claire Hawes (1.38.10) tackled the Great South Run in Portsmouth while Holly Linton took 10th at the European Duathlon Championsh­ips sprint distance in Ibiza.

Lynne Macedo tackled the Medina Parkrun on the Isle of Wight, Iris Mayo the Severn Bridge event and Louise Inchley ran a personal best of 24.47 at Cheltenham.

The Courtenay family were at Blenheim were Adrian and Jamie tackled the 10k in 65.36 and 47.16 respective­ly while Julie ran the 5k in 32.47.
