Dykes grabs brace as leaders keep winning start on track
TOM Dykes crossed twice as Cirencester made it five wins out of five in Gloucester One with a 40-5 away win at bottom club Brockworth.
The first half proved a frustrating 40 minutes as Cirencester were too often sloppy in possession, squandering several opportunities.
But they turned around 14-5 with two tries either side of the Badger’s solitary score from a chip over the top.
Centre Joe Hammond grabbed the first, adding the conversion himself, while the second belonged to the pack as after several reset scrums the referee lost patience and awarded Cirencester a penalty try.
The second half could not have started better for the away side, spreading the ball for powerful winger Dykes to speed over with Hammond converting.
A purple patch settled the result with elusive winger Isoa Raione grabbing the next try.
Flanker Matt Berry grabbed the next score, bursting through and showing his pace to run in from 60 metres.
With the game won inaccuracies crept back into the Ciren game until Hammond’s kick pass found Dykes to gather out wide for the final.
